Corsets by Forever in Black

1. What kind of boning do you use?

All of our corsets are steel boned. If you do not wish to purchase a steel boned corset, please refer to our 'Tops' page. We use a mixture of flat and spiral steel depending on your measurements. Generally, we use flat steels around the grommets and spiral steels elsewhere.

2. How many layers are there in your corsets?

Unless otherwise stated (for example, in our BonBon corset), our corsets have a 3 layer construction. This means that they have an outer fashion layer, often bonded to an interfacing to increase durability, an inner layer of corsetry fabric (coutil) and a lining layer.

3. I would like to know some extra measurements on your corsets.

Certainly, email us and we will provide the information. Generally, an underbust is approximately 10" long at the front and back, and an overbust is 13" long at the front and back. A longline corset extends further down the hip, usually by 1.5", and a cincher is 8" long or less at the front and back. All other measurements may vary with your size.

4. I am concerned about your corsets fitting at the bust/ hip/ other area of concern.

Please choose the 'custom' option and email us your measurements, or send us an email detailing your measurements when you order.

5. I would like my corset made in a fabric you do not have listed, or in my own fabric.

Please email us to arrange this. We cannot list all the fabrics we have available! If you wish to use your own fabric, we will need to see a sample before we agree to this, as some fabrics are simply not suitable for corsets.

6. I need my corset for a specific date, can you help?

Generally, our corsets take 4-6 weeks to complete. This may be extended if you order at a busy time of year or if your chosen fabric is out of stock. We will let you know if this is the case as soon as we can. Noting in your order that you will need your corset for a specific date will help us to help you get your item in good time.

7. What do I do if my corset doesn't fit?

Please return the item to us, unworn, within 7 days, detailing by email and by note with the garment the fit problems. We will then adjust the corset to fit you, or send you a replacement corset in the correct size.

8. Do you ship to....?

We ship worldwide. If you wish to know how long this will take, please refer to the UK Post Office website (on our links page). If you wish to know conversion rates, please refer to a conversion website.

9. Are your corsets suitable for tightlacing?

Yes. However, if you are waist training, please email us as some fashion fabrics cannot be used in a waist training corset.

10. I am not keen on steel boning, I would like something a little more comfortable?

Certainly! Please check out our 'Bodices' page, as this features plastic-boned corsets.  We have underbust and overbust styles available. If you wish to have one of our period corsets made, but with plastic boning, please email us, to discuss having your corset made with faux-whalebone, a fibreglass substitute.

11. Can you make me a corset for my wedding?

Forever in Black do not currently have a bridal collection. There are many companies listed on our links pages who would be more than happy to undertake wedding commissions - perhaps one of them can accommodate your request.

12. I would like some detailing on my corset, which you do not list.

Certainly. We can add trims, a modesty panel back or front, suspenders, etc. However, each extra detail will incur a surcharge. For details of corset extras, please email us.
